Come Worship With Us
As a cornerstone of our community for over 275 years this is an especially exciting time in the history of the First Congregational Church of Sutton. With our new minister Reverend Victoria Snow we enter a phase of renewal as a church community and a sense of new vigor as individuals working on behalf of Jesus Christ. We serve as the hands of God by: Providing meaningful worship services; Offering religious education for people of all ages; Sharing in Christ's healing of the world through his message of hope; Being a place of fellowship.
A Member's Meditation I thought back to this past March during a sermon by Rev. Snow. She asked each person that day to take a puzzle piece from a basket. She challenged us to go find where our puzzle piece as it represented us, fit into the FCC community and family. Since receiving this challenge, I found more than a place for me to fit my piece of the puzzle; I found a “family” within my church that supports my efforts, provides a safe place to speak freely, encourages me everyday with their spirit, and provides reassuring guidance to continue developing in a “rich” community of extraordinary people.
When you are ready to fit your puzzle piece onto the board, your FCC family is waiting to welcome you. Everyone is accepted and included. The daily dues are a deposit of love - love of God and family. Kevin Martus, FCC Member, July 2008
Musical Ministry Click here for review of Music Ministry Sunday, Held April 28, 2008
As members of the choir, we know the pleasure we share in expressing passion for Christ and his ministries through joyful song. A favorite Psalm is 147:1 "Praise the Lord. How good it is to sing praises to our God, how pleasant and fitting to praise Him!" Musical director Erik Johnson has brought exciting dimensions to our choir. We offer Cherub, Youth and Adult Choirs as well as opportunity for instrumental participation. WOMEN’S FELLOWSHIP OF SUTTON is an ecumenical group based at First Congregational Church. Any woman may join. Our mission is to offer support to our members, the church and our community. Regular meetings are held on the fourth Monday of the month (except for November, December and January). Meetings are held in the church living room or in someone’s home. Meetings are social and educational. The group does fundraising to support worthy causes within the community and to support the church. A new tradition is to have a pot luck supper on a summer evening with family and friends. The WFS hosts the April and September coffee hours. In each of those months we have a hotdog lunch one Sunday, and a bake sale another. The group is available to help with parties and funeral receptions -with a complete Silver Tea or a less formal presentation. For more information, please call Nancy at 508-865-4907.
